Abstract

The paper provides a comparison of systems of management within a focus on container ports in the Australia, the European Union and Canada. The centerpiece of the research are attitudes of port authority representatives and private parties that manage the ports upon privatization process. The goal of the research is to illustrate regional differences in port policy management. The study compares the level of private sector involvement and importance of long-term objectives of port policy by port management representatives. Due to the concentration of container shipping activity within a relatively small number of ports, the approach of the validation is case-study based.
