USAGE OPPORTUNITIES OF APPLICATION ACTUAL LOCATIONS OF RAILWAY VEHICLES IN TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS

Abstract

Mobile part of application actual locations of railway vehicles is running on mobile communication units or cab radios. Application locates vehicle based on information from built-in GPS receiver and this location data periodically sends together with timestamp, identification of car, train number, function of car on train and optionally with other information to central communication gateway. Central communication gateway processes received information, saves into database and distributes to next information systems. Function of mobile part of application (rules and periods for data sending) can be remotely configured. Received messages are used by central communication gateway for operation of dynamic domain name service, which enables functional addressing of devices on railway vehicles based on car identification and/or train number.
